Katie Klinect, a 25-year-old Dacula woman who fought to live and then danced with life, has passed away from injuries suffered in a bicycle accident, according to a Facebook page in her honor.
According to a post on Katie's Prayers Facebook page, she died Friday night after 10 p.m. The post from her father, Paul, said,
I woke up to a gorgeous Spring morning. The dogwoods and the azaleas are in bloom & birdsong fills the air. I can see the dawn breaking in the East. This day promises to be filled with beauty ... except for one thing - this morning will not shine as brightly as yesterday because part of the beauty that we enjoyed just 24 hours ago has left us; Katie has left us, and she will be sorely missed.
There were several of us in her room shortly after 10 o'clock last night who were with her to see her safely into the arms of Jesus.
I wanted to express my gratefulness to you - Katie's pray-ers for the countless hours spent asking & pleading for her healing and recovery. Her ultimate healing has been accomplished. Let me reassure any of you who may be tempted to think that your time was wasted - that just isn't true; Nanette & I had supernatural strength to face this unimaginably difficult situation with courage that was imparted from God as a result of your prayer. We are sincerely overwhelmed by the love that each of you has shown to Kate & her friends & family.
- The hope that we have will not disappoint
We love you,
Ms. Klinect was injured when a bicycle she was riding lost its breaks and she hit a tree, according to Channel 11.
Her mother, Nannette, told the station her daughter has already survived so much.
"We adopted Kate when she was 13 months old from India, and doctors didn't expect her to live," Nannette Klinect said. She received blood transfusions every three weeks to treat a rare blood disorder.
At 18, she got sick again, and doctors didn't think she'd live, her family said.
"She's lived her 25 years with more fullness and impact than most people in their entire 70 plus years," said Katie's father, Paul Klinect.
