The reported target, an 11-year-old boy, was walking to his home in Fairmont on the Park subdivision on the afternoon of Jan. 21 when the incident occurred. As the boy walked alongside the road after being dropped off by the school bus, a black pickup truck approached.
"[The boy] stated he was walking on the curb like it was a balance beam which put him close to the street," the officer wrote in the report. "He noticed the pickup get closer. He turned and looked and saw the pickup truck door open and this is when he saw the man."
The man, who the boy described a being overweight and approximately 50 years of age, reportedly attempted to pull the boy into the truck. The boy escaped, ran home and told his parents what had transpired. The boy, according to the report, mentioned hearing a rumor at school "about a black pickup attempting to snatch kids up."
The boy described the truck as being flat black in color with tinted windows and no chrome parts that he could recall. The rims on the truck were rusted and the vehicle was approximately the size of a Ford Ranger or small Mazda, the report stated.
The case is listed as active.
