Wallet, iPhone Stolen While Owners Exercised at Dacula Gym

Gwinnett County Police are investigating two recent thefts at Gold’s Gym in Dacula.

On Dec. 4, a patron of the gym reported his wallet stolen. According to the police report, the Auburn man left the wallet in an unsecured locker while he was working out in the gym. When he returned to the locker, the wallet was gone. The wallet contained the man’s driver’s license, Social Security card and a debit card.

The debit card, the man said, was used shortly after the theft to make a $7.62 purchase at the Ingles on Auburn Road. The man advised the card had since been cancelled and no other fraudulent activity had taken place.

On Dec. 9, another Gold’s Gym patron reported a theft. A Hoschton man told police he left his iPhone 4S in an unsecured locker while he was at the gym. When he returned to the locker, the phone was gone.

Both cases are listed as active.

After a series of car break-ins, Gold’s Gym implemented several security measures to deter further crime. The gym also reportedly has measures in place inside the facility including video surveillance.

In order to prevent car break-ins or theft of personal belongings,  police recommend leaving valuables at home if possible. If you must bring valuables inside the gym, keep them with you at all times or place them in a secured locker. Do not leave keys, wallets, bags or other valuables unattended at any time.
