Police Release ID of Man Found Dead in Dallas

Paulding County authorities have released the identity of the man whose body was found off Ridge Road last week.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab confirmed the man’s identity as Joshua Andrew Holmes, 25, of Dallas, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

Holmes’ body was found in a wooded area last Friday, July 3, by a local resident who was investigating a foul odor. The body was badly decomposed, police said.

“The individual was initially identified by individuals on social media as Joshua Andrew Holmes (W/M, 25 YOA),” Paulding County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Cpl. Ashley Henson said in a Friday email. “Utilizing DNA and tattoos, the GBI was able to confirm that the deceased individual was in fact Joshua Andrew Holmes. Holmes was from Paulding County and had a Dallas address.”

According to the GBI there were no obvious signs of trauma on the body.

“The manner of death is still under investigation, but detectives do not believe there is anything suspicious about Holmes’ death,” Henson said.
