Decatur Stabbing Suspect Arrested

The attack happened Sunday in front of children, sheriff's deputies say.

DECATUR, GA -- A man who police say stabbed a Decatur woman in front of children has been arrested.

Mendez Shuntae Hunter, 36, of Jonesboro, was located and arrested by the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office on Sunday in Riverdale and transported to the DeKalb County Jail, where he is in custody.

Authorities say that, earlier Sunday, Hunter stabbed Matika T. Jackson several times with a knife and punched her in the arms and chest at an apartment on Covington Highway in Decatur.

The attack happened while children were in the apartment, the sheriff's office said in a news release.

Hunter is charged with aggravated assault, two counts of cruelty to children and family-violence battery.
