What Should Go Here? Across from DeKalb Farmers Market

Mike Easterwood emailed Patch and asked that this building be featured in What Should Go Here?

It's at 2995 E. Ponce de Leon Ave., about 100 yards before the entrance to Your DeKalb Farmers Market. Easterwood writes:

I and my partners have owned the building since 1996. It was occupied by Meadow Burke Steel, a division of Oldcastle. They were a tenant since 1979. Meadow Burke vacated March, 2012.

The building is 65,000 SF, on 2.81 AC.  We have received approval of a variance from DeKalb county for additional parking.  We have hired Bob Cain, who also worked on East Decatur Station, to do the architectural drawings for a conversion to showroom/retail.  We will partition the building for tenants.

I would welcome suggestions from your readers regarding the potential tenants.

There you have it. Post your ideas and suggestions in the comments box.

About this column: Every week or so, we'll post a picture of a vacant store or lot in Decatur and Avondale Estates. You can tell us what you think should replace the empty space. Know of an empty building we should highlight? E-mail ralph.ellis@patch.com.
