Avis Elizabeth Williams Akin, 96, Dies

Funeral services was conducted Friday, Jan. 10, from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. John Whetstone and Rev. Anthony Puckett officiating.

Avis Elizabeth Williams Akin, 96, Dies
Avis Elizabeth Williams Akin, 96 of the Bowdon Junction Community, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 8. She was born Aug. 12, 1917 in Bremen, to the late Willie John Adrian Williams and Lizzie Pearl Hayes Williams. She was a supervisor with Hubbard Slacks and following her retirement, she was employed with Turner Manufacturing. She enjoyed gardening and visiting shut ins. She was the oldest member of Harmony Baptist Church.

Besides her parents, preceding her in death is her loving husband, Rev. Newman Woodrow Akin; infant daughter, Dondra Sue Akin; brother, Rufus Williams; and sisters, Louise Herrin and Evaline Williams; son in law, Larry Wood; and daughter in law, Judy Akin. Survivors include daughter and son in law, Pat and John Cramer of Carrollton; son and daughter in law, Charles Allen and Barbara Akin of Carrollton; sister, Willie Mae Lovvorn of Bowdon Junction, Ga.; five grandchildren, Philip and Valerie Akin of Fayetteville, GA., Chuck Akin of Carrollton, Melanie and Brian Bruggeman of Carrollton, John and Cindy Cramer of Bremen, and Lynn and Danny Terry of Bremen; and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services was conducted Friday, Jan. 10, from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. John Whetstone and Rev. Anthony Puckett officiating. Interment followed in Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Danny Terry performing graveside service. Pallbearers were Philip Akin, Chuck Akin, John A. Cramer, Danny Terry, Brian Bruggeman, and Mike Lovvorn.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Harmony Baptist Church Building Fund at P.O. Box 158, Bowdon Junction, Ga. 30109. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.martin-hightower.com. Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel of Carrollton has charge of the arrangements.
