Douglas Economic Development Authority Wins 'Deal of the Year' Award for Keurig Project

The anticipated $337 million investment and creation of 550 new jobs by 2019 makes project one of the largest in Douglas County's history.

The Georgia Economic Developers Association (GEDA) awarded the Douglas County Economic Development Authority its annual Large Community Deal of the Year award for the Keurig Green Mountain, Inc. (Keurig) project on November 17, 2014 at its annual awards luncheon.

The Deal of the Year Award recognizes outstanding achievement in the location or expansion of new businesses in the state of Georgia that meet community economic development goals and involve significant community support.

Governor Nathan Deal presented the award to Chris Pumphrey, Executive Director of the Douglas County Economic Development Authority, and Ziad Shiblaq, Senior Director of Operations for Keurig.

Mr. Pumphrey thanked the Douglas County Board of Commissioners, Douglasville Mayor Harvey Persons, Douglasville City Council, the Georgia Department of Economic Development, and the Development Authority of Douglas County Board of Directors for their continued assistance and support in bringing Keurig to Douglas County.

The anticipated $337 million investment and the creation of 550 new jobs by 2019 makes this project one of the largest in Douglas County’s history.

Additionally, the renovation of an existing building that was vacated when another business relocated outside of Douglas County makes this project a true win for the citizens and taxpayers of Douglas County.

Mr. Shiblaq stated in his remarks that the collaboration of the state and local economic development professionals and the strong workforce of Douglas County were key factors in the decision to locate Keurig’s new production facility.
