Harold Dwight Castor, 81, Former U.S. Army Paratrooper

Harold Dwight Castor, age 81, of Douglasville, passed away, Thursday, May 29, 2014. He was born on November 28, 1932, in Ellwood, Indiana, the son of the late Charles Dwight Castor and Cletus Hobbs Castor.  He was a Veteran of the US Army, having proudly served as a paratrooper for the 82nd Airborne.  He worked for the Chrysler Corporation, in the parts department, until his retirement in 1984.

Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Betty Jean Samples Castor of Douglasville; children and their spouses: Jerry and Pam Castor of Etowah, Arkansas, Deborah and Larry Wilson, Diana and Bart Blore, Terry Lance Castor, all of Douglasville; grandchildren: Hope and Wes Carnes, Brian Blore, Adam Post, Brooke Castor, Emily Blore, T.J. Castor, Anna Blore, and Maddy Castor; great grandchildren: Braelynn Castor, Brantley Carnes, Kaleah Castor, and Braxton Sparling; a number of nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog “Tiny”.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 2, 2014 at 11:00 AM from Hightower’s Memorial Chapel with Dr. Billy Godwin officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens with the American Legion Honor Guard folding and presenting the flag.  Brian Blore, Adam Post, T.J. Castor, Wes Carnes, Bryce Sparling and Timothy Stephansen will serve as Pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 1, 2014 from 3:00-8:00 P.M. and on Monday, June 2, 2014 from 9:00-11:00 A.M.
