The stench of human waste filled the air Wednesday night in parts of Douglasville, the product of 350 gallons of sewage leaked from a truck carrying portable toilets.
“I thought something died,” a resident told WSB-TV, which reported the waste leaked from the truck for a three-mile stretch from Douglas County High School to Hospital Drive. The waste also spilled onto Church, Adair and Spring streets and Fairburn Road.
The TV station said city crews were working into Wednesday night to mitigate the smell with deodorizer and chlorine bleach.
The driver works for National Construction Rental, which was asked to send in a hazardous material team.
The TV station said a case has been filed with Douglasville Police.
