Retail Meat and Smokehouse Is Back

Douglasville’s award winning butcher shop Douglasville Retail Meat and Smokehouse is back to serve the community and the west Georgia area, now located at 5009 Highway 5 and at the corner of Banks Mill Rd., directly behind the Landmark Diner.

David Widaski the owner of now three locations in Acworth, Cartersville, and now Douglasville is happy to be back in Douglasville where he lives, according to a press release. Since his absence in the area his other two stores have been recognized as the top butcher shops in Atlanta and in the top businesses in Atlanta from Groupon, The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Merchant Circle, Atlanta City Voter, Fox 5 News, and the AJC.

Douglasville Retail Meat and Smokehouse is affiliated with Findley’s Butcher Shop which is the name of the other two locations. Widaski said he makes all of our own products from fresh and smoked sausages, Cajun specialty items, Brunswick Stew, pastrami, corned beef and roast beef. The homemade beef and venison jerky and summer sausage, salami’s and homemade bacon are awesome. They accept all forms of payment cash, check, credit and debit as well as EBT.

Douglasville Retail Meat and Smokehouse and Findley’s Butcher Shop also give back to the community through fundraising programs for nonprofit organizations, churches and schools through a 20 percent back program for the sale of $25 gift certificates which $5 goes to the group that sells them and the customer gets to use the full value of the gift certificate at the store, according to the release.

Specials are offered on Thursday each week and customers can get on the email list through the website www.mygourmetsteaks.com. There are many popular freezer packages offered at the butcher shop for all size families and need a one to two day notice to put these together. The fresh meat products are Certified Angus Beef steaks and roasts, Ashley Farms Organic chickens and turkey, Berkshire Pork, Bison and venison items. The twice baked potatoes and stuffed mushrooms are very popular for side dishes, and the seafood selection is extensive.

If you need special order items like oysters, mussels, clams, or live shellfish the store will need one to three days’ notice. The same holds true for whole hog orders.

The butcher shop will be processing wild game and Widaski said that all deer and hogs will need to have the hide removed before dropping off for processing for details on this visit www.mygourmetsteaks.com the butcher shop also participates in the Georgia Hunters for the Hungry Program.

David says we never meant to leave Douglasville but the deal for the new location fell through and we just had to wait for another location suitable for this type of operation to materialize. Widaski said he missed his customers here in Douglasville and looks forward to seeing them all.
