Big MAC to Focus on City Issues

Duluth Mayor's Advisory Committee redesigned around focus groups that will provide input on specific topics.

Big MAC to Focus on City Issues

The Duluth Mayor’s Advisory Council, also known as Big MAC, has been redesigned around focus groups. Mayor Nancy Harris has issued a new call for interested citizens to participate.

Since Big MAC began in 2008 more than 100 citizens have been involved, according to a press release issued by the city.

The redesigned Big MAC will have a new format of discussing specific topics through focus groups. This will allow the mayor to collect citizen input and share information with the city council on current topics. It will also reduce the length of Big MAC meetings so that less time is required of citizens.

Meeting dates will be announced at least 10 days in advance. Each meeting is expected to last an hour from noon to 1 p.m. at Duluth City Hall. Meeting notification will be by email. Participation is limited to Duluth residents who live inside the city limits.

Input will be collected verbally on one or two topics at each meeting. Three to six focus group meetings will be convened a year.

Click here to fill out an application. For more information call the mayor's office at 770-497-5321 and speak to Veronica Chaffin. The application deadline is Oct. 1.
