Rep. Hank Johnson will be at the Clarkston Community Center on Saturday, March 22, to inform eligible residents about free tax assistance available through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, as well the IRS and GA Free File programs.
Johnson will be joined by Clarkston Mayor Ted Terry and officials from the IRS, Georgia Department of Revenue and the Computer & Communications Industry Association. The tax filing deadline is April 15.
VITA and Free File make it easy for filers to determine if they are eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit, a refundable federal tax credit that can put up to $6,000 back in working taxpayers’ pockets. It is estimated that between 20 to 25 percent of eligible taxpayers fail to claim it each year.
VITA will return to Clarkston Community Center every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., March 22 through April 12.
