Mother of the Community: Exploring the Life and Legacy of Dinah Watts Pace

Charis Books & More will host historian Nasir Muhammad of Black Mecca of the South Tours in a lively discussion about one of Georgia's most extraordinary, but forgotten women. A social activist and business woman before her time, Dinah Watts Pace became the 'Mother of the community.' She established an orphanage in Covington in 1884, that later became a school which trained over 700 children. This presentation will be facilitated by Dr. Stephane Dunn, Morehouse College professor and Co-Director of the Cinema, Television & Emerging Media Studies program at Morehouse College.
