Christos' Pizza on the Move

The venerable Powers Ferry area restaurant will reopen with a new name in a new location in April.

Christos' Pizza on the Move

One of East Cobb's local favorites for Greek and Meditteranean food is closing its doors.

But only for a short while.

The Giannes family, which has operated  at two locations in the Powers Ferry Road corridor for more than 30 years, is moving back closer to its roots this spring.

And when the new place reopens at the redeveloped Terrell Mill Village Shopping Center in April, it will have a different name:

Kouzina Christos

Owner Christos Giannes made the formal announcement Thursday on the old restaurant's Facebook page

"Thank you for 32 wonderful years. Sandy [Christos' late brother and business partner] was blessed and I continue to be blessed with tremendous support and unwavering loyalty of so many of you. . . . Please go to the Christos Kouzina page and like it, stay informed and see the pics as we construct for the next 32 years."

The menu will remain essentially the same, specializing in pizza, gyros and grinders, a strong favorite of the area's office lunch crowd, along with expanded offerings. The new restaurant will also feature a patio.

John and Maria Giannes, Greek immigrants who first arrived in Connecticut, opened the original Christos' in 1979 in the Terrell Mill Junction Shopping Center, adjacent to the Terrell Mill Village. Christos' moved to the nearby Delk Spectrum Shopping Center 17 years later.

In a small business profile with East Cobb Patch in October, Christos Giannes explained that the Powers Ferry Road area for the restaurant because it "has the right mix of offices and homes."

Kouzina Christos has just created a new  Facebook page and a new Twitter account, where patrons can get updates on the reopening.
