Cobb County School District Considers Tax Increase

Three public hearings, two of which will take place this week, will be held on the proposed property tax increase before it can go into effect.

Cobb County School District Considers Tax Increase
The Cobb County School District wants to hear from the public regarding its decision to tentatively increase property taxes by 4.78 percent.

Two public hearing will be held on July 10 at 9 a.m. at 6:30 p.m. at the Cobb County Board of Education's Glover Street headquarters in Marietta. A third public hearing will be held on July 17 at 8:30 a.m. in the same location.

If the measure is approved, the millage rate will be set at 18.9 mills, which is an increase of 0.862 mills over the current rate.

According to information provided on the School District's website, the proposed millage rate would cause about an additional $68.96 in property taxes to be assessed on a home valued at $225,000. A non-homestead property worth $300,000 would pay approximately $103.44 in property taxes under the new millage rate.
