Cross Country Athlete Ready for State Meet

Johns Creek High's Allie Buchalski on a win streak.

Cross Country Athlete Ready for State Meet

Johns Creek High School’s Allie Buchalski has been a consistent threat in cross country since her freshman year when she became the school's first individual state champion, running the second fastest time in all classifications. Buchalski picked up her second cross country individual state title as a junior last season. Now in her senior year, Buchalski continues to impress winning the last five starts at the Region 6-AAAAAA championships, Coach Wood, Atlanta Classic, Fulton County, and Wesleyan, 2nd at Covered Bridge, and 3rd at Bob Blastow. Several starts set course records.

Saturday, Buchalski will compete in the state meet. “If she can continue to get stronger and faster, and most importantly stay healthy, State will be an exciting race for her,” Head Coach Danny Brock typed in an email.

Also a basketball standout, Buchalski has decided to retire her basketball shoes after graduation and has verbally committed to run for Furman University next fall under the direction of two-time Olympian and Head Coach Robert Gary.

“I am delighted by the addition of Robert Gary, Rita Gary, and Chris Neal to our coaching ranks…Furman is committed to becoming one of the nation’s premier Cross Country and Track programs,” writes Furman University President, Rodney Smolla, in a letter of support to the program. With the addition of Buchalski to their roster, Furman is on the right track.
