Man Wanted for 2010 Shooting Arrested by Gwinnett Sheriff's Office

Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office in Lawrenceville said it has apprehended a man wanted for an October 2010 shooting in Norcross.

Josue Ordonez-Ruiz is accused of shooting a man who was holding Ordonez-Ruiz’s son during a domestic dispute on Everglades Trail in Norcross.

Ordonez-Ruiz was taken into custody at an apartment building in Doraville, Gwinnett Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Shannon Volkodav said Tuesday, April 1.

According to police, Ordonez-Ruiz is accused of following his ex-wife and friends home from a bar on Oct. 30, 2010. During the ensuing incident, he allegedly fired shots from a revolver before fleeing. One of those rounds grazed the leg of Jose Lemus, who was holding the divorced couple’s 7-year-old child.

Authorities believed Ordonez-Ruiz fled to Mexico, but deputies followed leads that he had returned to metro Atlanta. That led to the arrest at 3585 Meadowglen Village Lane, Apt. O in Doraville.

Ordonez-Ruiz is being held at the Gwinnett County jail on a charge of aggravated assault and for immigration.
