Two New Fire Stations Opened in Gwinnett
One is near Georgia Gwinnett College and the other is near the Gwinnett Braves stadium.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Gwinnett County officials cut the ribbons on two new fire stations on Tuesday.
Ceremonies were being held at First Station 31 and newly relocated Fire Station 10, both of which have been online and responding to calls since last Tuesday.
Fire Station 31 is located at 1061 Collins Hill Rd. in Lawrencevill, across from the campus of Georgia Gwinnett College.

Officials say the location of the station will provide quicker access on the Highway 316 corridor and to the college and surrounding neighborhoods and businesses.
The station's opening adds an additional engine, ladder truck and medic unit to the county's fleet.

Fire Station 10 was relocated fro Russell Road and Buford Drive to a new building at 1131 Rock Springs Rd. in unincorporated Lawrenceville.
The spot is just off of Buford Drive, near the Gwinnett Braves stadium and the Interstate 85 corridor.
The old station had been builtin 1976 and, at 3,096 square feet, was built to handle a single engine and total of three personnel per shift.
Both new facilities feature a community classroom, drive-through bay, industrial grade kitchen, workout room, shower and restroom. They have office space and a bunk room with private sleeping quarters.
The new stations measure 14,300 square feet and came in at a cost of $6.9 million for both.
The stations, as well as major equipment for each, was funded by Gwinnett County's voter-approved special-purpose, local option sales tax.
"Projects like these are made possible thanks to the unwavering support and commitment of the Board of Commissioners and our citizens," said Gwinnett Fire Chief Casey Snyder in a news release. "The department responds to over 76,000 emergency incidents, transports close to 35,000 patients to the hospital and conducts almost 2,000 public education and community outreach programs annually."
