Lilburn Business Association Collects Cans for Families in Need

As part of the Lilburn Christmas festivities, the Lilburn Business Association collected cans -- more than 2,000 -- from parade participants before the big day.

The Lilburn Christmas parade may be Saturday, but many are already in the spirit of the season.

As part of the activities for the parade, the Lilburn Business Association (LBA) -- which is leading parade efforts -- collected cans from participants on Friday, Nov. 29. The cans are being donated to the Lilburn Co-op.

From 3 p.m. - 6 p.m., LBA president Andrew Bell of BB&T, secretary Lisa French of Action Fitness and Porter Deal of Lilburn Realty were at Lilburn City Hall accepting cans from Cub Scout troops, local hospitals, businesses, law enforcement, and more.

By the end of the drop-off period, some 2,713 cans were collected; that's nine times as many that LBA gathered last year.

Those nonprofits, or other groups, with the most cans will also win a cash prize.

During the Christmas parade festivities, those who donated the most cans will be announced.
