'Wrecking Barn' Craft Brewery Pitched for Loganville Site

Planning commission will consider rezoning request at Jan. 6 meeting.

An Atlanta brewpub is hoping to build a craft brewery on 7 acres in the Loganville area.

The craft brewery and special event space, to be known as the Wrecking Barn, will be operated by the owners of Atlanta’s Wrecking Bar Brewpub.

The proposal would add two new buildings to the existing barn and greenhouses at the corner of Brushy Fork Road and Old Loganville Road. The new brewery will work in cooperation with Dillwood Farms.

The Wrecking Bar will present a rezoning request at the next meeting of the Gwinnett County Planning Commission. If approved, the property would be rezoned from Office-Institutional District and Single Family Residence District to Light Industry District.

Planning staff is recommending approval, with conditions: “A craf brewery directly engaged with a larger organic farming operation for ingredients and produce, remaining rural in character, could be consistent with recommendations of the Unified Plan.”

According to the application, the brewery’s normal hours of operation would be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with 5-10 employees on a daily basis. Tours of the brewery would be on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings each week for about 50-75 people with 30- 50 cars anticipated during tour hours.

The Planning Commission meets at 7 p.m. Jan. 6 at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center, 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville.
