Andy Morris Reclaims His Marietta City Council Seat

Former Councilman Andy Morris reclaimed his old Ward 4 seat on the Marietta City Council.

Morris ran against Patti Pearlberg in a special election Tuesday to fill the unexpired term of former Councilman Van Pearlberg.

According to unofficial results from the  Georgia Secretary of State's office, Morris defeated Patti Pearlberg, 1,465 to 1,082 or 57.43 to 42.41 percent.

The seat was vacated when attorney Van Pearlberg, who has been on the council for six years, resigned to run for the office of Cobb Superior Court Judge.

Morris will serve until Dec. 31, 2013, the expiration of Van Pearlberg’s term.

Morris regained the seat he held from 2002 to 2005, when he did not seek re-election.

He will be sworn in at the council’s agenda-prep meeting on Aug. 6, according to the MDJ.
