Do you ever dance in your kitchen with your spouse and wish you could do more than just slow dance?

Ballroom Dance Clubs of Atlanta, located in the historic King Plow Arts Center, offers basic ballroom dance lessons for couples or singles in styles, such as Fox Trot, Cha Cha, Swing and Tango. The $30 introductory special includes two private lessons, two group lessons and one practice party, which all students attend. Couples need only purchase one ticket. Private lessons can be made by appointment during weekdays between 2:15 and 10 p.m. Group classes and party schedules can be found online.

If you would like to try out your dance shoes for just one night, come to the monthly Saturday Soiree at the Duluth location. The soiree is a dance party open to the public, beginning at 8 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month.

The dance studio serves students of all ages, 18 -80, according to administrator Shawn Sims. He said students are singles, as well as couples and parents who have "time to spend on [themselves]."

Dance instructor Christjohn Batters said people come from Midtown, as well as outside areas such as Marietta, Kennesaw and Peachtree City. "It's a social time," Batters said of the practice parties. He said for many it is an automatic date night, as well as healthy exercise.

All dance instructors are certified and many are long-time professionals. “We all strive really hard to make it a very comfortable, safe, fun environment," Batters said.

Dance instructor Joshua Ingraham said "people really do enjoy getting out together" to dance.
