Article 14 restaurant opens Monday in Midtown

Staff Report

Article 14, the latest offering from Legacy Restaurant Partners, opened Monday for lunch and dinner near the intersection of 14th and Peachtree streets.

Refined dining is the headline at this new spot that is located downstairs from Olmsted, which opened Sept. 17 in the former TROIS space at 1180 Peachtree.

Hailing from New England, Executive Chef Bernie McDonough's culinary roots show in his food, but McDonough has embraced his new Southern home and also incorporates an eclectic mix of flavors from worldly experience. Through diverse travels in South America and the Caribbean, McDonough brings unique experiences, flavors and techniques to a menu comprised of classic dishes and seasonal surprises.

The menus at Article 14 are intended to be understood and easily digested. A few featured items on the lunch menu at Article 14 include:

The Emperor – little gem lettuce, parmigiano reggiano, herbed croutons, crisped white anchovies, capers

Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup – fontina, chèvre, two-year-old cheddar and gruyère on sourdough, herb roasted tomato bisque

Fish Cheek Tacos – blackened grouper, house salsa trio, griddled flour tortillas, mango jicama slaw

Dinner also tempts the taste buds with:

Angel Hair Pasta – butter poached lobster, caramelized shallot, chervil, sauce américaine, crème fraîche, caviar

Smoked Duck Salad – hickory smoked breast, purslane, ruby red grapefruit, avocado, crisped shallot, cracked pepper honey

Seared New Bedford Sea Scallops – grilled corn pudding, baby spinach, bacon shallot jam, crisped potato

16 ounce Bone in Strip Steak – B2, creamed spinach, roasted fingerling potatoes, horseradish and scallion sour cream

Article 14 offers a compelling beer and wine list (both by glass and bottle) in addition to a full-bar with an emphasis on bourbon. The “Manhattan Assembly” as the restaurant has named it, allows patrons to craft-their-own Manhattan, with the help of an Article 14 bartender, by selecting from 14 spirits, seven vermouths and 14 bitters.

According to a press release, Legacy Property Group’s in-house design and development team completely renovated the space. Article 14 evokes the feeling of a private club utilizing rich tactile materials and combining dark woods. The focal point of the space is an elegant wood-paneled bar extending the length of the room.

Alan Avery Art Company brings a unique concept to the décor by featuring an Atlanta lawyer wall of fame, with portraits of prominent lawyers from firms who are located in the vicinity, a nod to the restaurants clientele and neighboring businesses. Local artist William Rossoto created the portraits.

The restaurant will serve lunch and dinner on Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday for dinner only from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m.

A parking deck is located next to the restaurant with an entrance off of both Peachtree and 14th streets. There is also complimentary valet parking at both entrances with dining in and validated self-parking for up to two hours. Additional information is available at www.Article14.com and call 404-443-8432 to make reservations.
