'Junior' Was No Friend: Man Robbed of Rent Money by Acquaintance

Sandy Springs man says he and the robber were supposedly headed to a party near Norcross.

'Junior' Was No Friend: Man Robbed of Rent Money by Acquaintance

“Junior” wasn’t much of a friend recently to a Sandy Springs man, who said he was robbed by the acquaintance under the auspices the two were going to a party.

The man told Gwinnett Police on May 1 that he really didn’t know “Junior” that well, and only through an mutual friend, but he agreed to go with “Junior” to a supposed party at the Country Club Apartments on Medlock Bridge Road near the Norcross-Peachtree Corners city limits.

According to the police report, “Junior” said there’d be girls at the party. The man agreed to show up, but when he arrived at the complex there was no party. “Junior” suggested going to another apartment to hang out, and the two walked through the parking area.

That’s when “Junior” became not-so-friendly.

The Sandy Springs man told police “Junior” pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded all his cash, saying, “I’m gonna [expletive] shoot you. Give it to me.”

The man handed over $300 in cash, a $1,200 money order to pay his rent, and a watch. Total value of the stolen items was $1,750.

“Junior” then hopped into a white four-door car, possibly a 1990’s Oldsmobile.

The man described “Junior” as a black male, 20 to 30 years old, around 6 feet tall and weighing between 180-200 pounds. Police are investigating.
