Retired Postman Gets Special Delivery: $1 Million Lottery Ticket

A former postal worker from Gwinnett County received a late retirement gift, thanks to a scratch-off lottery ticket.

Eddie Beard, 71, who retired from the U.S. Postal Service two years ago, won $1 million in the Georgia Lottery’s 20th Anniversary Extravaganza instant game.

The ticket was purchased at Wee Willy’s, located at 1875 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Buford. He played the  $20 scratch-off game inside the store.

“I was shocked,” Beard said in a Georgia Lottery press release. “I wanted to go to sleep, but I was excited, of course.”
