Concepts 21 apartment complex caught fire Monday afternoon.

Holcomb Bridge Apartment Fire

UPDATED: Oct. 24, 8:02 p.m. - Roswell Fire Department Chief Ricky Spencer says it will be several days before the city can tell exactly what started the fire at Concepts 21, which burned four units and destroyed four others.

In total, eight units in building 64 at the apartment complex - located on Holcomb Bridge Road, just off exit 7 on Ga. 400 - were destroyed: four from fire damage and four more from water damage.

"Upon arrival we had heavy fire and smoke showing from the roof area," Spencer told Roswell Patch Wednesday evening. "Fire crews went into an offensive mode of firefighting, while at the same time we made sure all occupants were removed from the building with the assistance of Roswell [Police Department]."

Spencer said that soon after the department arrived the fire became so intense they had to remove all firefighters and go into a "defensive mode."

"We had our ladder trucks in place and quickly extinguished
the fire from the large amounts of water deployed," said Spencer.

Spencer said the fire was held to the originating building and did not extend to any other buildings.

Roswell Police Spokesman James McGee told Roswell Patch there were no fatalities and Spencer confirmed. The only injury sustained was a non-life threatening cut under the eye of a firemen.

"One of our firefighters was injured from a broken window and was transported to the hospital," said Spencer. "He was treated and released from the hospital and will recover just fine."

There were no reported injuries to any civilians, according to Spencer.

"The Roswell firefighters did an excellent job in extinguishing the fire and should be applauded for their efforts," he said.
