Lavender Fest to Take Over Historic Roswell Home Saturday

Visitors who flocked to the inaugural event last year won't want to miss the added fun this year.

Lavender Fest to Take Over Historic Roswell Home Saturday

History truly lives on with the advent of the second annual Roswell Lavender Festival at  this weekend.

Inspired by a member of Roswell's founding family, Evelyn Simpson, .

“The success of last year’s festival, the first of its kind, was overwhelming. We had visitors from all over the state attend the festival, see Barrington Hall for the first time and enjoy a day filled with all things lavender,” Robert Winebarger, site coordinator at Barrington Hall, said in a press release on the city's website.

The festival provides an opportunity for the public to visit the grand antebellum home and gardens. Vendors selling antiques, art, crafts, lotions, soaps, photographs, lavender-centric food and more will be on-hand during the event. Those interested can learn how to make a lavender wand and propagate lavender cuttings. The Chattahoochee Unit of the Herb Society of America (CUHSA) will sell lavender plants suitable for the Georgia climate, according to a city press release.

Outdoor yoga classes and alternative therapy instruction will take place in “The Zen Zone.” And children will find an arts, crafts, storytelling and games area just for them.

Ragamuffin Music will provide entertainment during the festival and food and drink will be available for purchase.

. Limited parking available on site. No pets are allowed. For more information, call 770-640-3855.
