Police: Woman Found Near Chattahoochee Likely Died At Another Location

The Roswell Police Department believes the woman whose body was found near the Chattahoochee River on Sunday died at another location.

The agency is asking the public to come forward to provide any information they can on the death of a Decatur woman whose body was found near the Chattahoochee River.

The body of Markeesha Taylor, 20, was found on a bank near the river around 1:25 p.m. Sunday, May 11 at Vickery Creek Park. The park is located off Riverside Road in Roswell.

While Roswell police initially responded to the scene, the case was turned over to the FBI because the park sits on federal land.

However, the case has now been returned to Roswell, said agency spokesperson Lisa Holland.

Holland said investigators believe Taylor's death did not occur on the property and "that her body was dropped off at the location."

The cause of death has not been determined, she added.

The agency is asking the public to help them locate any of Taylor's friends or acquaintances as they believe they could help in the investigation.

If you knew Taylor or know her friends, contact Roswell detective Jeff Sanders at (770) 640-4464.
