Roswell Wins Human Spirit Award For Adaptive, Therapeutic Programs

ROSWELL, GA -- The Roswell Recreation, Parks, Historic, & Cultural Affairs Department was recognized Sunday with a Human Spirit Award in Duluth.

The 2016 BlazeSports Triumph of the Human Spirit Awards honor those who have made a significant impact in Georgia through adaptive sport and recreation.

The city of Roswell focuses on offering new and innovative programming specifically designed for children and adults with developmental and physical disabilities. Recent completions include an indoor therapeutic pool at the Adult Aquatic Center and the Rotary Dream Field at Waller Park Extension.

"We are creating an environment of inclusion—for both participants and their families—that demonstrates they are an important part of our community,” said Morgan Rodgers, director of Roswell’s Recreation & Parks Department. “Our goal is to provide an opportunity for everyone to play.”

“Triumph of the Human Spirit" was adopted as the motto for the 1996 Paralympic Games in Atlanta. Continuing the legacy of the ’96 Games, the title of the awards also pays tribute to the individuals, groups and organizations who demonstrate athletic achievement such as leadership, a positive attitude and who inspire, motivate and truly epitomize the “Triumph of the Human Spirit.”
