Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church put out the welcome mat for some 80 overnight guests Tuesday night when gridlock, ice and snow gripped Metro Atlanta roads.

And a few Holy Innocents' Episcopal School students left their warm homes Wednesday morning to help drivers who were stranded near the Riverside exit of I-285.

The church was expecting 25 guests to enjoy more Episcopalian hospitality Wednesday night, said the Rev. Michael Sullivan.

"I've never been more proud of a parish. I am incredibly thankful for the tremendous effort exhibited by so many," he added.

School will be closed Thursday, but the church's welcome mat is still set out for those who need help, at 805 Mt. Vernon Hwy. N.W., Atlanta.
