Rep. Riley Excited About Republican Majority

Nearby Sandy Springs: With a new legislative session kicking off, State Rep. Lynne Riley has been named to a new leadership position in the Georgia House of Representatives.

"I am honored to have been  elected Chairwoman of the Fulton County House Delegation," said Riley on her website. "In 2013, my colleagues and I will deliver a legislative package designed to benefit every citizen of Fulton County by lowering taxes and enhancing service delivery."

Riley, who lives in Johsn Creek, told Patch that this year is significant in that it's the first time the Fulton delegation will have a Republican majority, and that her election as chair will enable the delegation to move legislation through that is important to North Fulton constituents.

She said so far the delegation has adopted goals to better the lives of every Fulton citizen:

  • Reduce taxes
  • Provide better service delivery
  • Provide better representation

Riley has also been named to the Natural Resources & Environment, Retirement, and Ways & Means committees, as well as MARTOC.

Locally, Riley serves as treasurer of the Johns Creek Foundation, which works to support non-profits supporting the community. She was elected state representative in 2010 after serving on the Fulton County Commission since 2004. She played a key role in working with the North Fulton House Delegation in creating the new cities of Johns Creek, Sandy Springs and Milton in 2007.

Last year, Riley served as a delegate at the Republican National Convention.
