Sandy Springs Council To Meet On Performing Arts Center
The Sandy Springs City Council next week will consider the future of a performing arts center as part of its City Center development project.
The council will hold a special called meeting on Wednesday, July 23 to review potential options and their impact on the project in terms of space and costs.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Sandy Springs City Hall, located at 7840 Roswell Road Building 500 in Sandy Springs.
The public will have the opportunity to review those plans and provide feedback during an open house, which will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 24. That open house will also be held in the Council Chambers.
During the council's special called meeting on July 9, Johnson Consulting, the firm commissioned by the City Council to explore options for a performing arts center as part of the City Center Master Plan, presented its findings.
As part of their presentation, Johnson recommended Sandy Springs explore a 750 to 1,000-seat facility, including adjoining lobby and meeting space to allow for multiple group use. The City Council directed the City Center planning team, including architect Rosser International and Master Developer Carter/Selig, to review the recommendations and provide the City with different scenarios which would fit within the City Center Master Plan.
