From Sharon Kraun

The City of Sandy Springs is soliciting nominations for its 2013 Humanitarian Award honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The award recognizes an individual who exemplifies King’s history of character and service. Nominees must live or work within the City of Sandy Springs to be eligible for nomination.

“We have so many people who volunteer their time to help within the community,” said Sandy Springs Councilmember and event organizer Dianne Fries.  “This award highlights an individual who has put forth an added effort in humanitarian contributions to society and philanthropic work.”

The nomination form can be found online at www.sandyspringsga.org/Community/MLK-Humanitarian-Award.

Nominations are due by noon on Thursday, January 10, 2013. A volunteer committee will review all nominations, selecting the award recipient.  The award is presented during MLK Day Festivities to be held from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. on January 21, at City Hall in Council Chambers.  City Hall is located at 7840 Roswell Road, Building 500, Sandy Springs, GA 30350. The 2012 recipient was Tamara Carrera, Executive Director for the Community Action Center.
