Creative Classes Abound in Smyrna-Vinings
Check out the classes available for kids and adults in and around our Patch.

Class is back in session, but not just for kids. There are a variety of classes and activities ranging from dance to French to canning that are available for kids and adults alike at the , Vinings School of Art andΒ Cobb County Extension Service.
Itβs not too late to sign up for dance and gymnastics classes through the Smyrna Community Center. Some of the classes began this week, but some sections will have their first classes in the coming days.
The community center has something for everyone starting with the tiniest tots. Creative Movement and Tumbling is a two-session class open to kids aged 1 year and 3 months to 3 years old. Class meets Saturday, Aug. 20 and 27 from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. The fee for Smyrna residents is $17.50. Non-residents pay $27.50.

Adults dance classes are also available. Check out jazz and tap for adults aged 16 and older. This two-session class meets Saturday, Aug. 20 and 27 from noon to 1 p.m. The fee for Smyrna residents is $20. Non-residents pay $30. Vinings School of Artβs fall classes begin Tuesday, Aug. 23. VSAβs toddler classes include Spanish/language arts from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., and art for toddlers from 11 a.m. to noon. Both classes are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Elementary-aged home school students can enroll in fine art from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays or Thursdays. Entry-level Spanish classes are held Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon and Spanish II is held on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to noon. There are a variety of after school classes available in piano, drama, fine art and French.

Cobb County Extension Service also offers a variety of free classes for all Cobb County residents. Lunch and Learn provides residents a chance to enjoy lunch while exploring topics relating to gardening and the outdoors. Learn how to incorporate native plants into home landscaping at the next Lunch and Learn, Friday, Sept. 9 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Cobb County Water Lab meeting room, 660 South Cobb Drive. Admission is free, just bring a brown bag lunch.
CCES will also host a canning class on Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Learn how to preserve food using pressure canning and boiling water methods. The class will be held at the CCES office, 678 South Cobb Drive, Suite 200, in Marietta. Admission is free.
