Six-Foot High Marijuana Found in Snellville Home

(Updated Oct. 15, 9:30 a.m.)

On the morning of Oct. 12, Snellville Police officers were driving past First Baptist Church near Lenora Church Road when they "caught a whiff of raw marijuana," according to the Gwinnett Daily Post.

The odor was so strong that they were able to track it down by scent alone to a home about half a mile away.

Officers pulled 21 marijuana plants -- some of which were 6-feet tall -- from a home on Pate Street; the plants were worth about $25,000 total if they had been harvested and sold on the street. They also found two handguns and growing materials.

Robert Andrew Tellier, 29, was arrested and charged with manufacturing marijuana and possession of Schedule II narcotics.

"We train our officers and detectives to look beyond the initial call," Snellville Police wrote on their Facebook page. "This was a prime example of this, and for their actions 20 pounds of marijuana and other drugs have been removed from the area."

The following officers were involved in the investigation and arrest:

  • Communications Officer (CO) Bailey
  • CO Maddox
  • CO Brock
  • Officer Rankin
  • Officer Slatten
  • Officer York
  • Officer Manley
  • Officer Rosado
  • Officer Buggle
  • Detective Steele
  • Sgt. Downs
  • Lt. McKinney
  • Lt. Gunter
