DeKalb Officer Indicted in Shooting of Veteran in Chamblee

DECATUR, GA -- A DeKalb police officer who shot and killed an unarmed veteran in Chamblee was indicted for murder early Thursday evening.
Officer Robert Olsen has been charged in last year’s shooting death of Anthony Hill, according to the AJC.
The shooting took place last year at the Heights of Chamblee apartment complex. Hill, 27, was reported walking naked outside his apartment. A call to 911 brought Olsen to the scene, where he then shot and killed Hill.

Olsen, who is white, said he believed Hill was high on some drugs, and feared for his life. Hill, who was black, had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder while he was in the Air Force.
Protestors belonging to a group called Rise Up Georgia, as well as some Black Lives Matter activists, remained on the courthouse lawn until a grand jury decision was announced.
