Woodall Announces January Town Hall Meetings

U.S. Rep. Rob Woodall (R-GA) will host his first round of Town Hall Meetings for 2013 in his Seventh District, which consists of parts of Gwinnett and Forsyth counties.

Two of these meetings will be in-person and one will be over the telephone.

“We have our work cut out for us this Congress,” said Woodall in a press release announcing the upcoming meetings. “With all of the drama surrounding the so-called fiscal cliff ‘deal’ at the end of the last Congress, Americans are demanding not only answers from Washington, but action. I hosted multiple Town Hall Meetings throughout those debates to ensure that those I represent made their voices heard, and to ensure that they were kept informed throughout the entire process.”

“Now with the White House working to circumvent Congress on gun control legislation, as well as another looming debt ceiling increase, it’s important that I hear what those I represent have to say on these issues,” Woodall said.

A mailer from Woodall’s office went out to Seventh District announcing the Town Hall Meetings as well as providing constituent services information and office contact numbers. There is also a survey on Woodall’s website.

Woodall also issued a strongly worded statement on Jan. 14 regarding President Obama's White House press conference:

"The President said that the work fixing the debt and deficit is already more than halfway done and signed into law.  Do any of you believe that is true?  Of course not.  Not only is the work not halfway done, but it has really just barely begun.  I would love to work with the President on reducing deficits, but he doesn't want to work with me.  He could have done it through the Joint Select Committee in 2011, but he refused.  He could have done it in the Fiscal Cliff debate, but he refused.  He doesn’t believe that debt and deficits are the catastrophic problems that I believe that they are.  President Obama's record-high deficits will destroy our economy and thus our freedoms.  So, no, Mr. President, you will not get my vote on increasing the debt limit until you agree to limit the spending that is driving the debt ceiling higher.

"The House will follow the will of the people and do those big things that are necessary to secure America’s future.  However, only with the President’s signature, will those big successes become the law of the land and make a difference for the American people.  The election is over, Mr. President, and you and I both won.  Please, stop campaigning and let's get to work…together.”
