Two Bloods Members Sentenced for Murder

Prosecutors say the killing off of Mountain Drive was a form of gang discipline.

STONE MOUNTAIN, GA -- Two high-ranking members of the Bloods street gang were sentenced to life without parole Monday for the beating and shooting death of a 19-year-old man.

A jury found Ramon Nichols and Marques Nicholson guilty in the March 2012 murder of Derrick Jamal Linkhorn, the DeKalb County District Attorney’s office announced, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

In the incident, two gang members lured Linkhorn to an abandoned apartment at Southern Pine Apartments off of Mountain Drive in DeKalb County.

The jury found that Nichols, 28, ordered four other gang members to kill Linkhorn as a form of discipline. They kicked, punched and shot him in the head and neck in the apartment, where his body was found a week later.

Nichols was found guilty on 14 counts, including murder and was sentenced to life without parole plus 100 years. Nicholson, 25, was found guilty of 13 counts, including murder, and was sentenced to life without parole plus 90 years.

Four other Bloods members are already serving prison sentences in connection with the case.
