Dick Clark, America's DJ, Is Dead at 82

Host of "American Bandstand" and "New Year's Rockin' Eve" was the face of rock 'n roll. Share your thoughts.

For more than a generation, Dick Clark brought rock 'n roll into America's living rooms.

He once was dubbed "America's oldest teenager," but in hosting "American Bandstand" and later "New Year's Rockin' Eve," he rubbed elbows with the biggest names in popular music.

He died Wednesday at age 82. He had suffered a debilitating stroke in 2004. He was born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., in 1929.

"Music is the soundtrack of your life," he was quoted as saying in USA Today. "I don't make culture," he once said. "I sell it."
