Former Gwinnett County Commissioner Shirley Lasseter, who was sentenced earlier in 2012 to serve 33 months in federal prison for bribery, reported as scheduled on Wednesday (Dec. 12) to a federal prison in Marianna, Fla.
Lasseter, whose District 1 included Suwanee, Duluth and Sugar Hill, was assigned to a minimum security Satellite Prison Camp (SPC) for female offender. This is adjacent to the Marianna, Fla., Federal Correctional Institute (FCI), a medium security prison for male inmates.
A prison spokesman confirmed that Lasseter arrived Wednesday to start serving her prison term.
Marianna is located in the Florida panhandle, about 65 miles west of Tallahassee.
