Officers throughout the DeKalb County Police Department have until Friday to update backlogged police reports as the department updates its report system.

Police: Online Crime Map 'Hopefully' Up By Next Week

The department has been upgrading its police reporting system this month, and, as a consequence, its account with CrimeMapping.com has been inactive since July 12. The service allows residents to see where and when crimes occur on an interactive, online map of the county. Several nearby jurisdiction are also visible.

Spokeswoman Mekka Parish the map would be back up by last Monday. But officers were given until Friday to upload police reports they've written manually since the system went down to be upgraded, she said Monday.

The map should be back up by next week.
