Boyfriend Charged With Killing Woodstock Woman

WOODSTOCK, GA -- A North Georgia man has been charged with killing a woman who was found dead inside her Woodstock apartment unit.

Woodstock police detectives have arrested 41-year-old Michael Russell of Ringgold and charged him with malice murder, felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault and false imprisonment, said spokesperson Brittany Duncan.

Woodstock officers were dispatched around 4 p.m. Friday, March 3 of a woman reported to be deceased inside the residence at Alta Ridgewalk Apartments, which are located off Ridgewalk Parkway east of Interstate 575.

The victim has been identified as Christy Waller, also 41, of Woodstock.

Duncan said the case "appears to be a case of domestic violence," as Russell and Waller were in a relationship. Russell has been transported to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center where he awaits book-in.
