Etowah Community Pays Tribute To Lucy Boettcher
Students and parents from the Etowah High School community came out by the dozens to pay tribute to Shania "Lucy" Boettcher, one of two people who were killed in an accident on I-285 in Dunwoody.

A student-organized vigil was held at the school on Eagle Mountain Wednesday evening to honor Boettcher, 18, who was set to graduate from the school on Friday.

Another person, a 2010 Etowah High School graduate named Darius Valcarcel, 22, also died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Passenger Anthony White, 21 of Dallas, TX, who was Boettcher's boyfriend, and driver and Shauna Clausen, 17, were both transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where they were treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Clausen is also a student at Etowah.

The Storify widget above shows the tweets we've compiled from residents who've expressed their condolences to Boettcher and her family.

A Fundly account has been created to help raise funds for the family. According to the fundraising page, Boettcher was spending the week with White and her family before she was to walk across the stage Friday evening.

Boettcher was also attending classes at Kennesaw State University and wanted to become a nurse.

She also learned a week earlier that she got her first home, and was planning to have a house warming party after she moved in, according to the fundraising page. According to her Facebook page, Boettcher was once a model for Brooklynn's, a downtown Woodstock boutique.

Her profile also lists her working as an officer manager at Back To Basic Health Chiropractic and a wedding coordinator at An Elegant Occasion.

Lucy Boettcher is survived by White, parents Rusty and Nina Boettcher, sister Michelle Boettcher, brother Sam Boettcher and many friends.

Funeral services have not been announced at this time.
