Millennial Legislators Form Bipartisan Future Caucus

State Reps. Michael Caldwell (R-Woodstock) and Dar'Shun Kendrick (D-Lithonia) will co-chair the group of lawmakers under the age of 40.

ATLANTA, GA -- A Democrat and a Republican will come together to form the Georgia Future Caucus.

State Reps. Michael Caldwell (R-Woodstock) and Dar'Shun Kendrick (D-Lithonia) have announced the creation of this bipartisan group of lawmakers under the age of 40.

The formal roll out of the Caucus will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 22 in room 610 of the Coverdell Legislative Office Building.

The Future Caucus will be co-chaired by Caldwell and Kendrick and will focus on passing bipartisan legislation on issues affecting young people in Georgia, from the economy to redistricting, to investing in clean energy.

The new caucus will join Millennial Action Project’s mission to establish bipartisan political cooperation and create progress through government institutions, with younger leaders leading the way. Georgia is the 17th state to join MAP’s network of future caucuses across the country.

MAP is a national, nonpartisan nonprofit organization dedicated to activating young policymakers to bridge the partisan divide and lead a new era of collaborative governance. In 2013 MAP organized America’s first-ever bipartisan caucus for young members of Congress, the Congressional Future Caucus. MAP's Future Caucus Network has expanded and grown into the largest nonpartisan organization of millennial elected officials in the U.S.
