Woodstock CFO Resigned

Woodstock CFO Resigned

Woodstock's CFO resigned last week under the threat of being fired.

Henry Bucci resigned Jan. 26, three days after the mayor and decided during an executive session to terminate his employment, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The newspaper reports that two outside audits showed the city's finance department had been keeping poor records, such as making at least two late payments to employees' voluntary contribution retirement plans in 2009 and neglecting to note a $600,000 payment on a water and sewer bond. That was an oversight by a subordinate but ultimately was his responsibility, Bucci told the AJC.

Bucci was fired from the city of East Point before coming to work for the city of Woodstock, and, one year after he was hired in Woodstock, East Point officials hired an investigator to track the city's contracting process.

According to the AJC, the investigator noted that in June 2007, Bucci moved approximately $1.7 million from the capital improvement plan to the general fund to "expedite the construction process." But those funds were never spent on capital projects.

Woodstock-Towne Lake Patch was not able to reach City Manager Jeff Moon or Bucci on Friday night for comment.
