Reformation Brewery Prepares for 3-Year Anniversary
The Woodstock-based company will release "95," a Munich Lager brewed in the Dunkel style.
WOODSTOCK, GA -- Reformation Brewery will turn three years old this October and to celebrate, the company will return to their roots with a beer called “95,” a Munich Lager brewed in the Dunkel style.
Brewmaster Nick Downs and CEO Spencer Nix, the brewery’s co-founders, say the beer’s name and recipe are a nod to both their love for church history and their humble beginnings.
“In the early homebrew days, a Dunkel was our first all grain recipe; it was always a favorite,” Downs said.

Nix added they wanted an "easy drinking, flavorful lager that could be enjoyed with friends without excessive amounts of alcohol."
At 4.7 percent ABV, the beer is described as having a mild, breadlike aroma with a smooth, dry finish and will be available at retailers in limited quantities on draft starting in October. The beer will also be bottled for a brewery-only release to commemorate Reformation’s anniversary.

“Luther had 95 problems, but thank God beer wasn’t one,” Nix adds, explaining that the historical Martin Luther, who famously nailed his “95 Theses” to the door of the Catholic church, was also known to enjoy his wife’s home brewed ale. “Rebel Kate was an amazing woman. She was a former nun who brewed her own beer and managed the household finances. She deserves immense respect."
A calendar of festivities centered on the brewery’s values runs from Oct. 27-31, and includes live music, food trucks, community led tours, and a limited bottle release. The event lineup is as follows:
