Area residents woke up to fog this morning.
The National Weather Service has issued a fog advisory for McHenry County— as well a several other counties throughout the Chicago area — until 12 p.m. today.
Some areas will experience very dense fog with visibility of a "couple hundred feet at best," according to the NWS. The fog should begin to lift later this morning with some areas experiencing fog into early this afternoon.
On a busy day for travel, the fog forced cancellations at area airports. About 100 flights were cancelled and 400 more delayed at O'Hare and Midway airports, according to the Chicago Tribune.
