On Monday, May 23, Georgia’s Restaurant will open for business in Algonquin. Georgia’s Restaurant is  a family-owned restaurant specializing in traditional breakfast food.

The restaurant is located at 1470 S. Randall Road, next to the Chili’s and in front of the Wal-Mart. Hours will be 6:30 a.m.  to 9:30 p.m. daily.

The restaurant takes after the style of a Chicago-Greek owned style family restaurant, featuring large portions of quality food. Breakfast dishes include a wide variety of egg dishes, pancakes, waffles, crepes, and French toast, and average about $8 a plate.

After looking for over a year for a place to set up shop, Georgia’s found a home at the former IHOP restaurant.

“This seemed like a spot that was made for us,” said Harry Kulubis, one of the owners.

The Kulubis family, a Chicago Greek family, are veterans of the restaurant business. “My father owned a restaurant for 20 years, 20 years ago,” Kulubis said. “This is our second go around at it.” The Kulubis family is back in the Chicagoland area after spending a few years in Florida. They live in Barrington.

The idea for Georgia’s Restaurant was born with baby Georgia, the restaurant’s namesake. Baby Georgia is Harry Kulubis’s niece and the first of her generation in the Kulubis family. The birth of Georgia inspired the family to change their eating habits and renew a commitment to quality nutrition, a commitment they’re hoping to spread to the community.

The slogan for the restaurant is “Better taste, better nutrition, quality food.” As part of that commitment, Georgia’s Restaurant will only serve Eggland’s Best Farm Fresh Organic Eggs and 100% pure maple syrup.

In addition to serving breakfast, Georgia’s Restaurant will have a wide selection of lunch and dinner options.  Harry Kulubis’s favorite dish on the menu is the Nutella and banana crepes.
