Dogs Rescued After Car Fire Threatens Home: Arlington Heights FD

While the residents were able to get out of the home safely, two dogs were initially unaccounted for during the early morning fire.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A fully involved car fire nearly spread to a home early Friday in the 100 block of South Evergreen Avenue. According to the Arlington Heights Fire Department, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Firefighters responded to the home at around 3 a.m. and quickly confirmed that all the occupants had safely evacuated the premises. It was also learned two dogs remained unaccounted for.

The firefighters simultaneously extinguished the vehicle fire and executed a rapid primary search of the occupancy, locating and rescuing the two dogs from the home.

Officials said the incident was contained, and the fire did not spread into the building's interior. There was only minor exterior damage to the residence resulting from the car fire.

Arlington Heights firefighters were assisted by the Palatine and Rolling Meadows fire departments.
